{LosCuellar.com.mx 614} Volunteers index 100 million records already this year

FamilySearch Indexing announced that volunteers have completed 100 million records in the first half of 2010 and are on track to complete a targeted 200 million by the end of the year. The completed indexes and images are available for searching at pilot.familysearch.org.

A press release from FamilySearch asked for more volunteers — especially for international, non-English indexing projects. New projects have been recently added for Brazil, Canada, Jamaica, Mexico, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States and Russia. Interested volunteers can start helping any time by registering at indexing.familysearch.org and selecting a project.

An example of some of the new indexing projects are Canadian passenger lists from 1881 to 1922, parish records from Bristol in the United Kingdom from 1837 to 1900 and the 1910 U.S. federal census records for Alaska.

Some of the recently completed indexing projects include the 1920 U.S. federal census records for the military, 1910 U.S. federal census records for Utah and two projects covering part of Jamaica's civil births from 1878 to 1930. Once a project is completed, it goes through a final completion check process before it is published at pilot.familysearch.org.

FamilySearch is a nonprofit organization sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

"Haz tu Arbol Genealogico...El Arbol mas Hermoso de la Creacion"

Por medio de la historia familiar descubrimos el árbol más hermoso de la creación: nuestro árbol genealógico. Sus numerosas raíces se remontan a la historia y sus ramas se extienden a través de la eternidad. La historia familiar es la expresión extensiva del amor eterno; nace de la abnegación y provee la oportunidad de asegurarse para siempre una unidad familiar".
