{LosCuellar.com.mx 459} SOMOS PRIMOS June 2010 126th Online Issue

Dear primos and friends:

With so many important issues of extreme importance to our community of Hispanic/Latinos/Chicanos, this has been a difficult month to organize and assemble with all the happenings, in immigration, Texas textbooks, distorted history, etc.. What is so inspiring is an awareness of the action of so many individuals and groups that are doing their best to bring understanding in all areas of national needs.

It is a very large issue, so be sure and wait until the issue is fully uploaded before viewing.

I have written comments based on an article in a local newpaper,  Laguna Niguel man pleads guilty in student visa fraud ring. The case deals with the facts of student VISAs; an immigration problem which is seldom discussed. Happenstance, last night I caught one sentence by North Carolina Senator, Lindsay Graham, who stated that of the eleven million immigrants here without legal standing, 40% are overstayed VISAs.

The emphasis on the Mexican border problems, and the invisibility of the student overstayed VISA problem, greatly troubles me.  Please read the facts, in particular, the research of Dr. George Borjas, Pforzheimer Professor of Public Policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

Warm regards, Mimi
